A) According to their website, yes you can.
Try Google: Can a Polaroid PDC 3030 camera be used as a webcam?
Doesn't anyone use Google anymore?!?can a manual focas lens from a 35mm camera be used on a digital slr camera?A) depending on the brand, it is likely.
nikon for example has kept compatibility between the lenses.
you need mechanical compatibility (same diameter, etc so it fits) and aperture control compatibility.
On nikon (maybe others but that's what i have) i can use older AIS lenses. You loose the autofocus (of couse) so you have to turn the focus ring by hand but the camera can tell you when it's sharp and you get a green light when focused.
some camera control the aperture on the camera, so you set the aperture to the smallest and the camera controls it, other times if in A mode you can turn the aperture ring on the lens.
i think olympus has adapters for the OM style lenses and the evolt, canon is not compatible between old and new lenses,
some camera also put the AF in the camera, so you can use all your lenses and you get AF for free (the camera price is steep though)
Note that because the 35 mm negative is larger than the ccd in most digital camera, you are only using the center of the lens.
The good thing is you have less vignetting, the bas thing is you need to adjust your focal distance (by 1.5 on my D70) so a 50 mm give you a 75 so it's not a standard lens anymore and my wide angle 19 mm is only a 28 so it's not so mucha wide angle anymore, but my 70-200 is now 140-400 !!How do you know what camera is being used in a Police Van?Q) Yesterday I was on the A6068 in Lancashire and went past a police van.
The van was on the opposite side of the road, facing me.
Is it possible for him to catch me speeding?
Will the camera have flashed?
Thanks for helping.
A) Not sure where the A6068 is, but I know that Lancashire Police are very keen on checking DVLA details.
I passed a police car, complete with camera, and was within the speed limit. About 1/2 mile up the road I was pulled over and informed that my car was not registered with the DVLA.
I explained that I had bought the car 3 months earlier, it was insured, MOT`d and taxed, all in my name and at my address. The officer informed me that the garage that sold me the car must have failed to send in their part of the V5. He advised me to get a registration form from the post office, complete it and send it to the DVLA or face a £60 fine.
Good Photo ops, and used Camera stores in York, UK?Q) Hi All,
going to be in York this weekend.
Does anybody know:
1. Good photo ops - architecture but also markets/people/sunrises
2. Used camera stores (pentax gear)
3. pawn (not porn) shops that have camera gear
Cheers,
A) There is much to photograph in York. The Minister for architecture, also the area known as the Shambles which is a collection of tiny streets close to the Minister. (Goodramgate, Stonegate, Petergate, etc) There are many very old buildings thereI have been there many times - the main problem is that the city does attract many tourists and these areas can get very crowded. However, these may give the people shots you are looking for. There is a market off Swinegate and also in Parliament Street. There are also many old, interesting churches for architectural shots. I walk along the city walls is well worhtwhile as this gives interesting views of the Minister and the roofs of the city. I can't say much about sunrises as I have never been there so early! A riverboat trip is also worthwhile - you get to see parts of buildings that are not visible from the streets.
The only photographic shop I know of is the ubiquitous Jessops (if that is still open, having regard to the current financial difficulties the company is going through). That is/was at the bottom of Parliament Street. I believe there may be one or two other shops selling second hand gear, but as someone else said you really need to look at a local yellow Pages - ditto for pawn shops.what is the best digital camera that is used on the market that can convert a background into chromo colors?Q) I want to buy a used digital camera on ebay that has high resolution and can convert the background into black to grays and white I guess that be chomo color ? I have no idea what is a really good used camera. I want it for close ups and portraits and reg stuff. I guess mostly artisty pictures to go in sync with my paintings
A) Most of the recent Canon Powershot digital cameras has special shooting modes:
Color Accent - Choose to retain a single color in your image while other colors turn monochrome.
Color Swap - Select a color and replace it with a color you specify for special effects.
See the product information for the Powershot A700 to see an example of these special shooting modes:

These cameras are the ones that people take back because it is too difficult for them to operate. Is that true? What are some advantages and drawbacks to purchasing a camera this way?
A) The advantage is that you SHOULD save a lot of money. I would suggest getting an aftermarket warranty, such as a Mack warranty, for maybe five years on the equipment, though. You never know if the thing has been dropped or something else is wrong with it. It would help to really know the dealer you are buying from.Is it a wise idea to buy a used camera??Q) I want to buy a camera, but it's a bit pricy. however, it might be a mess to try get the warranty ect. with a used. help?
A) Consider a refurbished camera or "Factory demo" with a warranty if you are trying to get decent equipment at a savings. Often, "refurbs" are just returned merchandise that can't be sold as new or items that were used in a camera store as a demonstrator. These cameras are fine and never had anything wrong with them. I've bought a couple without problems. Some refurbs are cameras that actually needed a repair, but they are repaired and certified by the factory to be as good as new and they should come with a warranty. Do not buy a refurb if it is not a "factory refurb" item. Although a refurb should come with a 90-day or 1 year manufacturer's warranty, you can buy third party warranty for 5 years for about $40-50. (You can do this for new equipment, also.) This may not be a bad idea if you are buying an "upscale" refurb. It would still cost a lot less than a new item in most cases.
You can find refurbs at rebutable dealers on eBay, such as Cameta Auctions; or at B&H Photo or Adorama (both available through Yahoo! Shopping), among other placesWhat is the most commonly used camera for wildlife photography by professionals?Q) I enjoy outdoor and wildlife photography immensely and somewhere in the future there is a new camera for me. I was just wondering what the professionals use and their thoughts on the subject. I currently own a Rebel XT with a 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L, all from canon.
A) Many photographers that do outdoor or wildlife photography use medium format cameras like Mamiya or Hasselblad. Your Canon Rebel XT is a very good camera (personally I prefer Nikon but that comes from working on them for years) and that should do you just fine for now. Medium format cameras and lenses are EXTREMELY expensive, so I wouldn't recommend buying one unless you were going to do outdoor/wildlife or wedding photography as your livelihood -- Hasselblad cameras start over $5,000.00 just for the camera body (no lens).Canon video camera used as web cam?Q) I have successfully connected my cannon video camera to my computer. I don't think I used a USB cable because I plugged it into the back of my computer. Is there any way I can use it as a web cam? Please give detailed instructions... I'm not too computer savvy lol
A) you can use it as a webcam...
if you have the right soft...why it does not show the camera used in picture at flickr?Q) hi guys,
when we see photos from other people profile, sometimes it does not show the camera used in that photo, also sometime it does not show properties WHY?
if people do not want to show that, what could be the reason? why would someone do that? as it is only for showing your talent and helping learning for people new to photography
A) To hide the details in Flickr, do this: in "Your Account" section, choose the tab "Privacy & Permissions" and check "Hide your photos' EXIF data" There's a lot of information in the EXIF besides just shutter and aperture. Some of this information may be used for market research (type of camera used by whom, # of cameras owned by this person, etc.). Then there's date & time stamp. Perhaps someone was supposed to be at work but called in sick to take some photos in that gorgeous golden hour.
It could also be the case that there is no EXIF data because it was shot on film. When I scan my film negatives, I have to enter in extra information.
Photoshop also allows you to strip off the data when you save the file.
If someone is afraid of being copied, one might hide details, too. Suppose there was a great city skyline shot and the light was just perfect. You could find the exact time and date, guess the location, choose the same lens, shutter speed, and exposure... and even rent the equipment,.. your shot could be pretty close to the original... of course, it would be hardly original. How can i use again my built-in camera? Everytime i want to use it, a message " used by another application"Q) Each time i want to use my built in camera, a message "used by another application" comes out. As to what application is using my camera, this i dont know how to trace. I am using an ACER ASPIRE 5583WXMi. Can anybody help me please? Im an idiot with computers....your help will be greatly appreciated.
A) Turn off your Instant Messaging program, start the camera, turn instant messaging back on.is purchasing a used ditigal camera, a good investment?Q) Is it wise to purchase a used ditigal camera off of ebay or half. com? Asking since, I might purchase a camera when I visit a convention in the coming months. What do you suggest?
A) Sure...but check the seller's feedback rating before bidding.Have scientists ever used trilobite eyes as camera lenses?Q) Trilobites have unique eyes formed from calcite prisms. I heard a rumor that some of these lenses are so well presevered that they could be used for camera lenses.
I should make clear that I am refering to their fossilized eyes.
A) Well you could but you don't normally get that kind of detail and if I recall calcite replacement is not likely to occur for soft parts like eyes. There are some amazing looking trilobite eyes in the fossil record but you don't as a rule use them for more than studying trilobites. Besides they're so tiny why would you use them for that? (I'm going for an average trilobite. I know some were larger)
